Wood’s High Mountain Distillery announces First Whiskey Collaboration – Tread Lightly Blended Whiskey

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Dry Land Distillers and Wood’s High Mountain Distillery Collaborate to Release Tread Lightly, an Iconic Colorado Whiskey

Original Label Artwork from Award-Winning Colorado Artist John Cross

Longmont, Colo. – Feb 4, 2025 – Dry Land Distillers, the Colorado small-batch craft

distillery and tasting room in the heart of downtown Longmont, and Woods High Mountain Distillery, one of the first Colorado craft distillers in the heart of Salida, have announced a new collaboration whiskey, Tread Lightly. The partnership has created an iconic Colorado whiskey that celebrates the wonder and awe of Colorado’s diverse landscapes.

Tread Lightly is a blend of two award-winning spirits – the high mountain, adventurous flavors from Wood’s Tenderfoot Malt Whiskey and the artisanal flavors from Dry Land Heirloom Grain Whiskey. This rare spirit is celebrated with original label artwork by Colorado artist John Cross. John brings the sense of adventure and wonder of Colorado’s outdoors in his painting using a natural color palette that brings the landscape to life. “I really wanted to capture a sense of being invited into this beautiful landscape. The colors are meant to be playful while pulling the viewer deeper into the space. I also wanted to create the visual sensation of the vastness of this region, especially with regard to a person’s first time seeing the mountains from a rise in the high desert. I want you to say, “I want to be there”.

Both whiskeys are made from Colorado-grown grains. Each of the spirits brings its own complex flavor profile to the bottle, blending the high mountain boldness of the Tenderfoot Malt Whiskey with the more delicate and refined spirit from the Dry Land Heirloom Grain Whiskey. “The blend is beautiful and dynamic, just like our state. Colorado is a wondrous place, the merging of mountains and plains, water and desert, rural and urban. We wanted to showcase this dynamic in a way that hadn’t been done before. I believe we’ve accomplished this with amazing results,” noted P.T. Wood, one of the Founders of Wood’s High Mountain Distillery.

“We’ve been friends with P.T. and Lee for years. We’ve always been big fans of the work they do and the values they bring to their spirits. They are closely aligned with our ethos. Collaboration and community are extremely important to Dry Land. Creating an iconic spirit like Tread Lightly is our way of celebrating everything we love about Colorado – not just the landscapes, but the people and the communities that make this place home,” said Nels Wroe, Dry Land Distillers Founder.

Tread Lightly will be released at both distilleries on Valentine’s Day weekend, the perfect time to celebrate a partnership. Wood’s High Mountain Distillery will host a whiskey release party on Friday, February 14, at their distillery in Salida. Festivities and bottle sales start at 4:00 p.m. and continue through the evening. Dry Land Distillers will release Tread Lightly at their distillery in downtown Longmont on Saturday, February 15, starting at 4:00 p.m. and continuing through the evening.

Due to the high level of interest in the whiskey, Dry Land Distillers encourages attendees to RSVP before the event. Individuals wishing to attend the Longmont launch should sign up on Dry Land’s mailing list before February 11. Preorders for the Tread Lightly release are available for those on Dry Land’s bottle club list. Dry Land highly recommends preordering on their website to secure your bottle before February 15.

Both Dry Land Distillers and Wood’s High Mountain Distillery are proud to use Colorado-grown grains from small growers throughout the state. Dry Land Distillers is proud to have won the 2023 Good Food Awards and the Slow Food Snail of Approval among many gold and silver medals from international spirits competitions. Most recently the distillery won Double Gold/Best in Class for their Native Colorado Gin at the 2024 International Women’s Spirits Competition and Double Gold/Best in Class Small Batch American Rye at the 2024 Craft Spirits Competition. The distillery is a proud supporter of the Colorado Grain Chain and Zero Foodprint, two nonprofit organizations that are pivotal in reshaping the way we drink and eat in Colorado.

Wood’s High Mountain Distillery is proud to be one of the original craft distillers in Colorado, helping to establish the craft spirits movement in the state. Founded by brothers P.T. and Lee Wood, the distillery broke ground in establishing one of the most unique, true-to-place spirit profiles celebrated as a true Colorado mountain whiskey. Their whiskeys have received numerous awards, including 91-point ratings from Whiskey Advocate and an 8.9/10 “Recommended” rating from American Whiskey Magazine. Their San Luis Valley Vodka was named Best Vodka in 2021 at the American Craft Spirits Association competition, and Treeline Barrel Rested Gin has collected Gold at the San Francisco Spirits Competition. They are also proud supporters of the Colorado Grain Chain, the Greater Arkansas River Nature Association, and Lee is the current President of the Colorado Distillers Guild.
